Most people who have any memory or knowledge of the village of Woodburn would tell you it’s a great place to stop over.
A small collection of shops lining the Pacific Highway across from a well-facilitated park that borders the Richmond River, Woodburn is host to bleary-eyed travellers who, in the early hours, stop for a toilet break, coffee and bacon and egg roll for breakfast on the way to their destination.
What these travellers don’t realise is, they are enjoying the benefits of many early pioneers who established and made Woodburn their home. These pioneers built businesses, had families, grew crops… Many of them find their final resting place on the banks of the Richmond River, that played such a large role in their lives, in the Woodburn cemetery.
This book is dedicated to those early pioneers and the contribution they made to this small town.
